Whixley Gate, North Yorkshire

Whixley Gate was a redevelopment of a former hospital site undertaken by Bryant Homes.

Its layout and design was inspired by nearby villages on the western fringe of the Vale of York.  It comprises a main street and two parallel back lanes all running in a counter direction to the lines of mature trees on the site.  In this way the trees contributed to the setting of virtually all of the new homes.

The design of the individual homes was also locally inspired.
